An engineer who repairs mowers, not a marketer who reviews them.
Mower Insights started because one person got tired of buying-guide articles that recycled the same manufacturer spec sheets — and decided to open the deck himself instead.
Who we are
Mower Insights is a lawn mower repair, maintenance, and advice business based in Milan, Italy, founded and run by Siddik Kazi. What started as a repair bench in a small workshop has grown into two things at once: a hands-on repair service for homeowners across Milan, and a source of buying guides and reviews built entirely on that repair experience — not on rewritten spec sheets.
We work on lawn mowers, ride-on tractors, trimmers, edgers, and robotic mowers, across every power type — gas, electric, and cordless/battery. If it cuts grass, there’s a good chance we’ve had one on the bench.
Siddik’s background
Siddik holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, one of Italy’s leading technical universities. That academic foundation — understanding how machines interact with soil, terrain, and vegetation — turned out to be unusually well suited to lawn equipment, where cutting performance, engine load, and terrain conditions are all tightly connected.
After graduating, Siddik spent the following years working hands-on with lawn mowers rather than moving into a purely theoretical or corporate engineering role. Over 4+ years, that work has included:
- Diagnosing and repairing engine and motor faults across gas, electric, and cordless mowers
- Sharpening, balancing, and replacing blades to factory tolerance
- Testing and troubleshooting battery packs, chargers, and BMS (battery management system) faults on cordless equipment
- Servicing ride-on tractors and zero-turn mowers — drivetrain, deck, and hydrostatic transmission work
- Running seasonal tune-ups: oil, filters, spark plugs, belts, and cable adjustments
That repair work is still Siddik’s day-to-day. Clients across Milan bring in mowers with everything from a mystery vibration to a battery pack that won’t hold charge, and the diagnostic process for each of those problems is what eventually turns into an article, a buying guide, or a troubleshooting checklist on this site.
Why Mower Insights exists
Before starting this site, Siddik — like a lot of people trying to research a mower purchase — ran into the same wall repeatedly: dozens of “best lawn mower” articles that all listed the same five products, in the same order, with the same lines lifted from the manufacturer’s own product page. None of it reflected what actually happens to these machines after a season or two of real use.
That gap is the entire reason this site exists. Every review, comparison, and buying guide published here is grounded in one of two things: a machine Siddik has personally tested, or a failure pattern he’s seen repeatedly on the repair bench. When we say a mower’s drive belt tends to slip under heavy load, that’s not a guess extrapolated from a spec sheet — it’s something observed directly, on a real machine, under real conditions.
“I started Mower Insights after getting tired of generic reviews that recycled the same specs without any real testing behind them. My goal is simple: help homeowners pick a mower that actually fits their yard and budget, and keep it running longer with practical maintenance advice.” — Siddik Kazi
What makes our approach different
Repair-first perspective
Most review sites evaluate a mower for a single afternoon out of the box. We evaluate mowers the way a repair shop does — by seeing what actually breaks, what wears out early, and what parts are expensive or hard to source when something goes wrong. That’s information a one-time review can’t give you, because it only shows up after months of real use.
Plain-language diagnosis
Whether it’s an article or an in-person repair, the goal is the same: explain the actual problem in language a homeowner can understand, not just a technician. We’d rather spend an extra two minutes explaining why a mower won’t start than hand back a vague invoice line that says “electrical repair.”
No manufacturer sponsorship bias
We are not paid by mower manufacturers to feature or favor specific brands. Where this site earns affiliate commission on a purchase link, that’s disclosed clearly on the relevant page — and it never determines which product gets recommended first.
Our repair & maintenance services
Alongside the content on this site, Mower Insights operates a working repair shop in Milan, offering:
- Engine and motor diagnostics and repair (gas, electric, cordless)
- Blade sharpening and balancing
- Battery and charging system testing and repair
- Ride-on tractor and zero-turn mower servicing
- Seasonal tune-ups and preventive maintenance
- Trimmer, edger, and small-tool repair
Workshop drop-off and on-site visits are both available across Milan. Most diagnoses are confirmed the same day, with a fixed quote provided before any work begins — see our services overview for details, or head straight to the contact page to book.
Our editorial standards
Every piece of content on Mower Insights follows a few fixed rules:
- Real testing or real repair experience behind every claim. We don’t publish a recommendation we can’t personally stand behind.
- Clear affiliate disclosure. Any page containing purchase links states plainly where those links go and that we may earn a commission.
- Regular review. Prices, availability, and specifications change — articles are periodically checked and updated, with a “last updated” date shown where relevant.
- Correction on request. If you spot something inaccurate in an article, let us know and we’ll review and correct it.
